Welcome to A Forever Home Rescue Foundation’s Memory Page. On this page we honor all of the wonderful dogs who have shared their lives with us. Although they are gone from our lives, they are never far from our hearts.  Please email your tribute and photo to info@aforeverhome.org.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in a joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…

Murphy (Mikey)

We wanted to let you know of the passing of our amazing pup Murphy on October 19, 2023. When we decided early spring of 2008 that our family was ready to add a puppy, we attended AFH adoption events for five weeks in a row. Our 4 kids were so excited to wait for and find the exact right puppy. And finally, there he was, buried under all his siblings just a little black butt sticking out. He was “Mikey” from the Onyx litter. We had 15 years and 8 months with Murphy. He loved being outdoors, he loved snow, he loved kids, he loved the neighbors, he loved cheese. And last year had been promoted to protector of the new grandbaby. Here’s to hoping Murphy is Is having a blast with friends across the Rainbow Bridge.

Sweet Girl Dallas

We adopted our sweet girl, Dallas, from A Forever Home back in 2009.  We knew right away after spending just a few minutes playing with her at the adoption event that we wanted her to be ours.  She was our first baby and we had almost 14 wonderful years with her.  Dallas was the best furry family member to our 3 children and they are still adjusting to not having her in the house with us. Dallas passed away peacefully this past summer but we are so grateful to A Forever Home for giving us the best, sweetest pup.

Teukie (Nickelby) – Deeply Love and Missed

Hello, I am writing to thank AFH for the wonderful, loving, faithful companion I adopted in 2009. His name at adoption was Nickelby, and he was part of the litter (Nicholas 8)… We renamed him Teukie Seoul King. Teukie passed away yesterday at the age of 14 and 1/2 years. Teukie was a fun loving playful dog. He loved his walks, his toys, and food! He once stopped someone who was trying to break into our home. He kept my father company and cheered him when he was struggling with a terminal illness at the end of his life. Teukie was adopted by me and my daughter Amy.  Amy was a great fan of k-pop, and named Teukie after a k-pop star she liked. Amy died last year. Teukie was my loving and faithful companion through very difficult times.  I have…attached a photo of Teukie as a adult dog. I wanted AFH to know he led a very happy and healthy life. He traveled across county with us for a family reunion in Denver, Co in 2019.  He has also been to the beach, but he did not like the sand. 🙂 Thank you for the wonderful work you do, and thank you for finding and caring for Teukie so that we could find him and care for him. He was deeply loved and now is deeply missed.

 Kind regards, Patricia

Sammy – Best Dog Ever

Sammy became a member of our family in July 2012. It was love at first sight. Our 3 daughters picked him out at an adoption event within only a few minutes, and they could not have made a more perfect choice. He completed our family, and he provided us with so much happiness for 11 years. We will miss his funny personality, his awesome hugs and kisses, and his ability tocbrighten our days, every day! Not only did Sammy love us unconditionally, he made sure he took care of us, even at the end of his life. He gave us a great week prior to his death, and he made sure all of us got to spend quality time with him. On August 14th, Sammy passed away peacefully in his
sister’s arms.which is exactly where we think he wanted to be. We are so grateful to him for being the best dog ever. Although our hearts are broken, we will always cherish the countless memories of him and how he made our lives so much better. Rest easy, my sweet boy. We know you have found the best window seat up in doggie heaven.

Sweet Oscar

Hello! We recently lost our sweet boy Oscar (to a cardiac arrest event). We adopted him from A Forever Home just about 5 years ago….Oscar was my shadow, we spend my work days together and I miss him. A few of our favorite pics attached.

Bruno – Our Bestest Boy

We adopted our Bruno March 2012. I just wanted to let you know he crossed the rainbow bridge August 21 2023. He was surrounded by his family, his friends at the vets office of 10 years. He had cheese and love. You gave us a gift of 11 years and I just wanted to thank you. He was the bestest boy. He loved his people, his kittens, (they’re 7 now, but still his babies) his squishmallows and tricking his Granny into dropping food. He loved watching over the bus stop near our house and kids in general. Everyone was a new friend. Thank you for Bruno, thank you for everything.

Wonderful Nellie

….Nellie Newcomb passed away June 2017 yes 2017. I have been meaning to contact you since then. I have never loved a pet as much as I loved her so I guess that is why I put it off so long. …She was described as Black and Tan Coonhound Mix and came from the Page County Shelter where she might have been named Roxy. She was Nellie at AFH and we kept that name. She weighed 35 pounds when we took her and gain about 5 more over the years. She had a very happy life and was everything we dreamed of in a dog. She became bonded with our “lab mix” pound puppy Kailey and they lived out their lives together with Kailey passing on about a year after Nellie. Nellie  developed tumors I believe a year or so before her death but was able to remain pain free. Well thank you for the wonderful dog.

My Best Friend Nazli (Adriana)

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that my best friend NAZLI (A.K.A. ADRIANA) has passed away on 11/22/2022. I adopted her from your organization in 2008. Unfortunately, due to her illness, she suddenly died in my arms at age 15. She had a great life. She will always be with us in our hearts. Thank you for rescuing and fostering her. My life would have been totally empty without her. I hope our roads will cross one day and we reunite. I will reach out to you when I am ready to adopt again.

Eddie, My Best Buddy

Hello,

I just wanted to let you all know that Eddie crossed over the rainbow bridge on June 17th. He was my best buddy for ~15 years and I can’t thank you all for allowing me to adopt him. About two years ago, he was diagnosed with terminal kidney disease and was only given a few weeks to live but with TLC and his amazing tenacity, he stayed with us for all this time! Thank you again, for the joy he brought to me and my family. I miss him so much but know that he’s playing with all of his heavenly friends and family and watching over the rest of us.
My sincerest thanks, LuAnne

Scruffy (Scrappy) – Special Place in Our Hearts

Our first AFH pup came to us as “Scrappy” a rescue from a Forward Operating Base in Iraq where he was the only survivor out of a litter of seven. When he came to our home, we renamed him Scruffy, the name he had for 12 years. Scruffy’s DNA showed he was predominantly Anatolian Shepard and Heinze 57. He was a stoic dog and the world ran on his schedule, especially mealtimes. His show of affection for his family was the “Scruffy Stomp,” nuzzling a family member and then stomping with the rear legs while getting a scratch on his back. He was a fighter and was in remission from Mast Cell cancer for almost a year. When it came back with a vengeance, he still did all the Scruffy things until his tumors ruptured. We love and have loved all our dogs, but Scruffy will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Phil, Laurie, Chris and Kim
