A Forever Home Rescue Foundation
Finding forever homes for dogs in need
Fairfax Station Train Museum Event
Our event at Fairfax Station Train Museum went extremely well. We had 14 foster dogs attend this event and received a number of applications to adopt and even a few to offer to foster for our rescue. Despite the heat, there was a great set up with our younger pups inside and plenty of shade for our older dogs outside. There were lots of friendly people who came by to say hello as well and we really enjoyed meeting so many animal lovers. Thank you to Mario and the rest of the Museum’s staff and volunteers.
Fundraiser Success
What a great event we had! We filled a 15 foot U-Haul truck to the roof in just 4 hours and had enough to spare to fill a cargo van! The recycling center was very impressed and we all hope it translates into lots of green to help our doggies. Thank you to everyone that contributed. Also thank you to Julie Heimstra who helped load the truck, the van, and drove twice to the recycling center. Also thanks to Marybeth Henry who also helped load the truck, Hunter, Gavin, and Jessica Miltenberger who helped put in the last of the items to fill the truck. We are grateful for all your help.
Puppy Party!
AFH was invited to attend Jacqueline’s 14th birthday party. All of the girls had a blast loving on the puppies and the pups really enjoyed the attention. Hope you had the best birthday Jacqueline!
Scrappy 10 Year Update
Hi!
Wanted to drop a note that after 10 years, we are still loving on our girl Scrappy from A Forever Home. She was adopted under the name Smoky Girl…We recently said a very sad goodbye to her brother of 14 years, Scruffy, and I came across your website in beginning my search for a new pup to love.
I attached some recent pictures of our girl Scrappy (the smaller of the two pups in the pictures). She still loves to chew socks, clothes, couches (we’ve been through a few thanks to her), blankets (which doesn’t prevent us from letting her sleep in our (her?) bed every night), etc. She jumps on our kitchen table when we’re not looking and her 20lb self can even jump onto our kitchen counters! Little troublemaker that she is (we still tell ourselves that her 11 year old self will grow out of the puppy phase at SOME point :-), she is the best worst dog ever!
Jokes aside, all is well. Since her adoption, she is helping us raise 4 kids (one set of twins in there) and loves to play fetch every day. Even when her arthritis kicks in and we have to give her the occasional Rimadyl, she is in good spirits. We also moved out of the city a few years ago and now she has a huge yard for playing and exploring.
Thanks for giving two graduate students the opportunity to share our young lives with this pup 10 years ago. She’s wonderfully spoiled by us, but we are equally spoiled by her as well 🙂

Zoe and Rory Home
Zoe was adopted as a pup and returned to AFH recently. As luck would have it, her brother Rory, adopted as a pup as well, was looking for a new friend. Rory’s mom happened to be looking on our website when she saw a familiar face. Both Zoe and Rory are now happily living together in their forever home!

Winner of Air Fryer Raffle!
The winner of our Air Fryer raffle is Laura Revilla. She is pictured here at center, accepting her prize, along with her daughter (left).
An AFH volunteer donated the fryer and an Aldie gift card to provide support for our Brownie’s Fund. Brownie’s fund pays for medical care for dogs with extraordinary expenses. One recent dog was Rylie, who required multiple surgeries after being hit by a car, shortly after giving birth to 14 pups! Mom and pups have all found their forever homes.
Congrats Laura!
Romeo and Juliet Reunited
This has been a Happy Valentine’s Day for two of our rescued doggies; Romeo and Juliet found their forever home together. We want to thank to Julie Sun and Beth Brummett for coming to Fox 5 this morning to reunite this pair, rescued from being tied to a burnt out trailer for a year. If you missed it, you can view it at http://www.fox5dc.com/news/389443751-video.

In either case, thank you for supporting the rescue! Without your help, we couldn’t rescue the more than 1,000 dogs we do every year!
