Party Paul/Petey
Petey is a two-year-old neutered male Cattle Dog/Pit Bull cross. He was originally adopted out as a puppy. He became very protective of his family after the birth of their first child. He had also had an incident with another dog at a daycare, as well as nipped at a child in the complex where he was living. His owners decided it was in the best interest of both Petey and their growing family to return him to the rescue.
Petey is a very smart, handsome, athletic dog. He LOVES to play fetch and will chase the ball and bring it back for as long as you are willing to throw it for him. He knows basic commands, some cute tricks, walks well on a leash, is housebroken and crate trained.
Petey needs to find a home that either doesn’t have children or one in which the children are teenagers or older. He would be best suited to a home with a yard, where he can play and bask in the sun. His ideal owner will be looking for a walking, hiking, jogging companion.
If you are willing to accept that Petey is not interested in saying hello to every dog or person he meets, and that he has a strong herding instinct with both dogs and children, and are willing to manage both of those situations, you should come and meet Petey. He is truly a wonderful boy, his intelligence, athleticism, energy level and genetics make him not the dog for every family, but perhaps he is the perfect dog for you!
