Australian Shepherd Mix
Hi my name is McKenzie or Kenzie for short. I am a beautiful, pure-bred tan and red mural Toy Australian Shepherd. I am full grown at only 20 pounds. I was just given up so my foster mom is still trying to get to know me. I am a family dog in that I am extremely dedicated to my family, they are my world and I would do anything for them. I am a very friendly and loving dog and like to be cuddled. I love the attention of my family and like to follow them around everywhere. I am crate trained and so far have not had any accidents in my foster home so mostly housetrained. I know the word sit, come, and shake. I would prefer to go to a family that is an experienced dog owner as I will need the to be my pack leader. Because of my breed and my herding instinct I will not be good with young kids as to me they are just sheep that I can herd and protect. I'm ok with cats as long as they don't run, once they run, my instinct takes over. I am not trying to hurt them, just herd them. I know my mom's work schedule so I stay quiet when she is away. I am really a great dog, but will need a family to socialize, exercise, and provide me the mantel stimulation that I require. If you have any questions or would like to meet me please send a request. I look forward to seeing you!
Loyal, affectionate, agile and attentive, McKenzie is eager to please and enjoys learning new things. She has recently learned sit, come, stay, down and take it. She is learning to jump into your arms on command. McKenzie is approximately ten pounds and seems to enjoy playing with other smaller dogs on a one on one basis. She tolerates cats if you are firm with her to not bark at them. She loves to sit by your feet or on your lap and is happiest when she is with her person. She is currently housebroken, she stays in her crate during the day and in the bedroom at night in her bed. She loves treats and can be food aggressive with other dogs but she responds extremely well to positive reinforcement and will now eat side by side with another dog she knows. She rides well in the car and likes to take trips to Petsmart and the park. McKenzie would be best with adults or older children who can treat her gently. She is an adorable, easy keeping dog who would love to be your new friend.
