Coonhound Mix
When you look into my expressive face and large brown eyes you will know that I am more than just a "hound dog," and I will capture your heart immediately. I am a tri-colored, spayed, female hound mix about a year old and 45 pounds. Before I was rescued by AFH, me and many other dogs were seriously neglected and it was not a great start to life. But with the loving care of AFH and my foster family, my true friendly, loving and curious personality has blossomed and the vet says I am very healthy - but could stand to gain a few more pounds - what girl doesn't like to hear that! I make canine and human friends easily but true to my hound traits my sense of smell is great and I have a good prey drive and will alert when squirrels, rabbits and other wildife are near. I am pretty good on the leash and I love to air and trail scent while walking but sometimes I get so involved that I run into my walking mates, so with help I am learning to walk in my lane. I am potty trained (learned how to use the doggy door as soon as I arrived at my foster home) and crate trained, but I have been so well-behaved in the house, that my foster family doesn't put me in the crate at night or during the day when they are at work. I did dig twice but got caught once and was told "no," and so far I have not dug again. I have a baratone hound voice but I am on the quiet side which my foster family appreciates. I do seek love and affection and get excited when my family returns from work, but settle down quickly for an evening of tv and naps until it is lights out. I am happy and safe now and am grateful for the second chance and hope to find my happily ever after.
