I'm what you would call a Dog's Dog. That means... I'm the quintessential canine companion! Food is for eating, air is for breathing, cats are for chasing, and walks are for fun and exercise. I come from a long line of herding dogs and that means I need lots of exercise, but I also know when to just kick back and relax. I love to go on long walks or fast runs and I'm great at the dog park with the other dogs. My foster mom has done some research and she thinks I may actually be a Canaan Dog because of my natural herding and guardian dog instincts. They say those dogs are "alert, vigilant, devoted and docile with family... Reserved and aloof with strangers." I'd say that pretty much sums me up! If it runs, I will chase it. If I feel that my herd or my pack (and my human is my pack leader) are threatened, I will protect them. Loud noises and anything on wheels, are bad news in my book. Those things are dangerous! I'm looking for a forever home with a couple that prefers not to have those annoying, fuzzy, meowing things and that likes to take long walks in evenings and go for runs in the morning! I'm great with kids but sometimes when we're on walks and I feel that something is going to hurt them, I am a little too fast for a little person to stop me. I am super smart and learn very fast but if you let me, I will try to get away with what I can (all smart dogs are like that!) For the most part though, if you teach me your language I'll do my best to be everything you ever hoped for in a dog so you will want to keep me in your forever home...Tommie Boy is an amazing dog. He's very smart, very keen and especially protective. His foster parents all loved him but unfortunately, they were cat people before he came into their lives.
