Roc

Male (Altered) — Date of Birth: 04/13/2007 (18 years old (Senior))
Labrador Retriever Mix
Roc was rescued from the Prince Georges County Animal Shelter when he was 5 months old. He was frail, starved and had kennel cough. He was so thin you could count his ribs and the nobs on his spine. He had been so traumatized by being in the shelter that he refused to eat. He was scheduled to be euthanized. AFH pulled him out of there and sent him to a foster home to recover while he was awaiting adoption. It was apparent that he had spent most of his life in a cage or a kennel, yet despite this he had maintained his sweet lab nature, somehow. His kennel cough is now cured, he is now pleasingly plump at around 50 lbs, in top condition, and is even friendlier. Rocky loves people and dogs of all sizes and regularly wrestles and plays with a 5 year old. He is gentle and would not hurt her, but probably needs a home with kids that are 5 or older due to his playful nature. He can roughhouse, but is gentle. He's very loyal and generally will do anything to keep his foster mommy in his line of sight. He is extremely smart, fully housebroken, and would do well in an active home with kids or adults that want to hike, bike and play with him! He has a great nose and tracks the cat all over the house. He wants to sniff her and play! Nevertheless, he is probably better off in a home without cats because he cannot understand why they want to scratch him on the nose instead of play chase! He is looking for his forever home, and wants a family to love for the rest of his life. Please come to our next adoption fair or contact A Forever Home to meet him!
