As you can see, Max is a handsome healthy boy, now that he has been taken in by AFH and received proper care. Max originally came to AFH emaciated (see pictures at bottom) and his owner was prosecuted for severe neglect. He has just completed four weeks of professional training by an exceptional trainer. According to his trainer, Max is a great dog. His foster mom describes him as a big ole lug, who prefers to lay near your feet, rest his head on your lap and go for slow walks. He is a very affectionate dog and seeks out your attention. Max can be shy at first meeting, but once he warms up, he is your best pal. He loves treats which help motivate him to do just about anything. He walks beautifully on a halti or a leash. Because of his size, he needs a firm but gentle handler. Max also needs to be an only dog.
