Piper the Jack

Female (Altered) — Date of Birth: 08/29/2003 (23 years old (Senior))
Jack Russell Terrier Mix
Boy has Piper come a long long way in a relatively short time! A Forever Home purchased a contract with Bark Busters which has a lifetime training guarantee. This will convey with Piper and it may be used as needed to continue her training and/or do a periodic refresher. It has really helped in teaching her the basic manners that every pup needs. She has shown tremendous improvement in her obedience. She's settled down, is much more relaxed and happy now that she feels secure. She is a very typical Jack Russell energy wise and she's also extremely bright and sweet. She has quite the funny little personality, will amuse herself with her toys for hours, gets along with most other dogs and loves nothing more than to be with her human buddies whether on their lap or in her dog bed at their feet. She would do best in a home with older children. She has done well with the children she has met but most terriers do better without young children or toddlers. Piper was crated quite a bit and as a result, although she is crate trained, she finds it very stressful. We have compromised by putting a leash on her harness and allowing her to sleep in her dog bed but leashed in that small area. That change has made an enormous difference in her anxiety and temperment. She is almost fully housebroken and is very good so long as we humans keep her on a regular schedule. All in all, this is a dog that needs someone who understands the terrier mentality and is fairly consistent in working with her but she is well worth the effort. She is so smart, sweet, affectionate and funny! She deserves to find a great home - Jack Russell's are very fun and loyal dogs and you really could not ask for a more loving dog than Piper.
