Schatzi
Schatzi, German for trreasure, is a very sweet and non-demanding dog. This relaxed and smart girl landed in an overcrowded shelter in North Carolina and no one came looking for her. The staff soon realized that she was pregnant and heartworm positive. Besides the fact that a shelter is no place for a dog to give birth, the shelter was completely out of space. She arrived with us on the day before she went into labor and has been a pleasure to care for from the beginning. She was the perfect mother with never a harsh word to her babies, even when they started to get teeth. Shatzi is very quiet, calm, affectionate, non-reactive to squirrels and other small animals. She doesn’t pull (at ALL) on her leash and is crate trained and house trained. (She only goes out twice a day!) Schatzi is not ver outgoing, but affectionate and seems happiest when in your lap. She would be a great companion animal or therapy dog and will be available for adoption in the middle of July.
