Joan
Hello! I came up from Alabama where my time was almost up, so I’m very thankful for AFH and my foster mom. My foster mom calls me Joan of Bark! Or sometimes Sweetpea! I am the typical pit bull – I LOVE attention and snuggling! And I have lots of energy to play all day. I love to play with my canine friends and have been good with every dog I’ve met. But those pesky cats and squirrels have got to go! Since coming to AFH, I’ve learned so much. I had never been in a house before, or walked on a leash. It’s all new to me, but I love all of it!
Joan is full grown and a medium-sized dog, about 40 lbs. and 17” tall. She is a total lover, and always wants to be near her human. There’s no such thing as too much snuggling for Joan! Joan has done very well with her training; she is a “pleaser” and responds well to both treats and praise. She will “GO TO YOUR PLACE” (go in her crate) very willingly, and will sit patiently and wait for you to open the crate door and give her the “OK” to come out. When I am home, I leave the crate door open and she will go in to take a nap. She also sits patiently and waits for her food bowl. She knows “SIT” and “LIE DOWN”, and “WAIT” before crossing a street or getting out of the car.
Joan is very energetic and needs daily exercise time. (I always say “A tired dog is a good dog!”). She would love to have another dog or active child to run and play with. She has done well with her housebreaking but still needs to be taken out about every 4-5 hours. She makes it through the night in her crate with no accidents. I just call her Joan of Bark for fun, she’s actually pretty quiet and doesn’t even bark when someone comes to the door.
