Ralph
Ralph and his sister
were abandoned at a high kill shelter in rural Virginia. How comfortable he is in
the rain and how timid he was entering the house the first day, makes me think
he probably used to spend much of his time outside. By chance I discover
his recall command: it’s not his name, not a “come”, not a smooch sound or
clapping hands, but a good strong whistle! The first time I gave him treats he
got super excited smelling allover, but unable to figure out it was in my hand:
getting a treat from a human hand was a new concept for him!
Ralph is very sweet and wags his tail to everyone. He is friendly with other dogs and it looks like he approaches them with a very beagle “Hi Dude, what’s up?” kind of attitude. He loves to go for walks and he doesn’t pull on leash. He is athletic and would be a great running companion, while at home is quiet and likes to nap. He is housebroken and sleeps in his crate at night. He would be a great dog for any kind of family. (and ..Yes.. my kids keep asking “can we keep him?” !)
