As unexpectedly as she entered our lives and won our hearts, so she departed, and in doing so, left a hole in our hearts. Our dear, sweet, and oh so smart, Pixie, was crossed over to Rainbow Bridge. The doctors gave us a very dismal prognosis and we decided our energetic, inquisitive girl needed to run free. She came into our lives the Christmas season when we said goodbye to my Dad. Knowing we needed to change up holiday traditions, we accepted the call to temporarily foster some puppies. Well some turned into one, Princess, as she was called at the time. She fit in so well with our other fur kids that we decided she had found her forever home, and flunked fostering for the first time. Pixie was a real cuddler from the start! Bonding with Mom as she lay as close as possible on the couch. In the winter time she liked nothing better than to snuggle under the covers, and in warm weather could be seen "catching rays" on the deck while basking in the sunshine. Being the youngest in the family did not deter her from becoming the alpha dog and family caretaker. She was fearless in protecting her family and territory from outsiders, barking loudly at anything or anyone in sight of her perch spots on the back of the couch adjacent to the window and outside on the deck. Each day, despite protests from Peaches, our eldest, she took it upon herself to lovingly groom her face and teeth. When we fostered pups, she led them in play, potty time, and leash training. How she loved to play! Running after squirrels, tussling with family siblings, playing tug-of-war with toys and treats - always getting the upper hand due to smarts, strength, and quick moves. We will miss our wise, spirited girl with the beautiful markings, velvety ears and soul searching eyes. We are thankful for the love she gave us in the short time we had together and she will always have a place in our hearts. Vanessa and Bob
