Hi! My name is Gatsby. I am about 7 years old, and I still have that Brittany enthusiasm. I love to run laps around my fenced-in yard in order to flush all the birds out of the bushes (oh, and maybe squirrels and cats too)! Other than birds, my next best love is just to hang out with you. Would you kindly let me in if you are not outside with me? A couple of good walks (or a run?) a day plus a romp around the yard and I am ready to chill out. My foster Mom calls me her Velcro dog. I contentedly follow her from room to room and lie down. I am crate trained, house trained, and also the best patient in the world and I do not mind being gently prodded and checked out. Kids and other dogs do not bother me at all. I am learning to run and play chase with other dogs at the dog park, instead of just sticking next to my person. I play tug and prefer destruction-proof toys (bones, ropes) for my chewing pleasure. Those stuffed toys are no match for me! Ha! While at my foster home, I have become more practiced at sit and down and even leave it. Stay is a bit hard, but I am improving! I do like the lure of an open door, but my foster Mom has assured me that if I sit and stay like a good boy, I will get to go out with her! I like my walks and food so much that I bark out of excitement, but my foster Mom is trying to convince me that it is really not necessary. I may bark briefly if I get a little jealous while you pet other dogs and not me. I just want you to know that I am still there. A gentle hand, firm rules, and plenty of love are all I need and I am yours! History: Gatsby was picked up as a stray in Maryland. He is up to date on all shots, is Heartworm negative, and is neutered.
