Hound Mix
Hi my name is Cheswick and I am a 9 month old hound mix weighing close to 34 pounds. I am full grown, but may fill out some more as I mature. I have now been with my foster mom for 3 weeks now and made some remarkable headway. You see I came from a really scary place and I was afraid of everything humans included. I did not know how to play or even what a toy was. My foster mom and dogs taught me that I did not have to live in fear all the time. They taught me how to play and just be a puppy all over again. I’m afraid I have become a little protective with my toys now around other dogs and I always think I’m playing tug-of-war with my human friends. My foster mom is trying to work with me on this, but it is taking me time. I tend to get a little over zealous at home and kind of bounce around and jump up on people. A good yard to run in may help a lot and a little puppy training would do me good too. I’m still quite fearful in crowds and strangers, but once you give me time to trust you I will arm up to you. I love to go on walks, but often take you on a walk especially if we walk in an area I’m familiar with. I am a very quick learner, I even learned “sit” and “down” already and I’m almost house trained, but my foster mom is a little confused with my signal. I am crate trained and am pretty quiet when it is nap/bed time. I am looking for a family that has older quieter children or an adult only home. I get along with other dogs when there are no toys or bones involved. I’m afraid I do chase cats thinking it is a game, but I’m not trying to hurt them. Will you give me time to trust you? I am a great sweet dog when you allow me time to get to know you and will love to play fetch, just need to learn the drop part a little better.
