Hidden Treasurer: Even from a distance we could see poor Hillary was in trouble. Weak from starvation, she swayed and stumbled as she walked. I pulled my car off the road and all I could thinkg was, "please baby, don't run away." To my surprise she wagged her tail gently and allowed me to approach. I stroked her and she melted in my arms. Tears came to my eyes--So grateful she was now safe, yet saddened that she had suffered so much. She lay limp in my son's lap as we drove home in silence. Initially, we were afraid Hillary might be too far gone. She was emaciated, lethargic, mangey, and her temperature below normal. I guess you could call her the comeback kid--five weeks later she looks alike a new dog and what a nice dog she is! Hillary is housetrained, great with kids, cats and other dogs. She is very fond of the couch and loves to snuggle while we watch TV. Hillary loves her food, dancing about happily until her bowl is placed in front of her. Her tail wags continuously while she eats. Hillary is middle aged, but acts like a puppy discovering life for the first time. She is truly a happy dog that deserves to be pamered. Despit her horrific past, she seems to have suffered no long term effect and would make a great family pet.
