Toy4Joy – Troop 5484
This June, Alice from Troop 5484 did her Silver Award project with her fellow scouts Jenny and Madison. Their project was called Toys4Joy where they taught kids how to make animal toys like a chew toy, treat toy, cat scratcher, and more. They came by our adoption event to drop off some toys and of course, play with puppies! Thanks ladies!
Paws In The Park
Last Spring we joined the National Park Service at Prince William Forest Park for their annual Paws in the Park. Pictured here are Cecilia with Joanna Kay, Lori with Vanessa Blaydes, Daisy with Lisa Alberti, and Freya with Debbie Ewald. We also had one of our adopters show up with Joey from the New Kids on the block litter. He was adopted from us 8 years ago!
Color The World
AFH has been the recipient of some very generous donations from Color the World. Since 2016 we have received donations totaling over $6,000 from their sale of high-quality lipsticks that are vegan, cruelty free, and natural. They have never asked for anything in return, but such an amazing company deserves our support. Please support this wonderful company.
Purchases of the “Huntress, Give A Dog A Forever Home” color goes directly to supporting our work.
Go Giant – Go Green!
Update: Hey folks I wanted you to know some good news I just learned today about the Giant Give Back reusable bags. Even if you purchase one of these bags at another Giant location or at a time other than during this month’s current AFH promotion, you can choose AFH as your designated charity for the donation to go to. The bag will come with a tag that explains how to do it. It’s real simple!
We are happy to announce that we have been chosen to participate in the Giant Community Bag Program during the entire month of August! If you purchase a reusable Giant grocery bag at the Giant located at 13043 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway in Fairfax Virginia for $2.50, we get a $1 donation!Besides avoiding all that plastic (and thus helping the environment), you will be helping AFH!Be sure to stop by in August and buy a bag (or 2!)!
Juice and Cookie Fundraiser
These kids spent the morning doing a cookie and juice stand for A Forever Home and raised $23! They even had some Fairfax County firefighters stop by and contribute.
The kids came up with the idea after fostering a dog for AFH. They had a wonderful experience and we wanted to help the organization in other ways. We are truly grateful for all they have done for the doggies and to the Fairfax County Fire Department as well.
Arcola Cares
Students and their families from Arcola Elementary have made a cash donation to AFH! They donated the coins they sent in from home during their Math Money Unit earlier this year. What great kids (and their teacher, Ms. Waltman adopted Angel from us 2 years ago)! Thank you!
Spread the Love Contest
Patti Stinson won the Spread the Love Contest, sponsored by the Daily Kibble. As a result of her winning entry, she won a $1,000 donation for our rescue and a $100 gift card for herself!
Patti wrote: “I have been in rescue for 25 years and have been with A Forever Home Rescue Foundation (AFH) since early 2003. Our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abused, neglected, and abandoned puppies and dogs resonates with me. I understand the emotion behind rescue but know that rescues must be financially sound, well managed, and professional in order to succeed – AFH does all of that and I am very proud to be a member of such a wonderful team of volunteers.”
Marco’s Pizza Fundraiser
Marco’s Pizza came to the AFH adoption event to deliver pizzas and a donation! They held a fundraiser for AFH on June 25th. Their pizza was delicious! They are located at 25370 Eastern Marketplace Plz, Chantilly, VA 20152. Thank you so much!
Fairfax Station Train Museum Event
Our event at Fairfax Station Train Museum went extremely well. We had 14 foster dogs attend this event and received a number of applications to adopt and even a few to offer to foster for our rescue. Despite the heat, there was a great set up with our younger pups inside and plenty of shade for our older dogs outside. There were lots of friendly people who came by to say hello as well and we really enjoyed meeting so many animal lovers. Thank you to Mario and the rest of the Museum’s staff and volunteers.
