A Forever Home Rescue Foundation
Finding forever homes for dogs in need
Dog Treat Fundraiser!
A Forever Home received a very generous donation from the human brother of Reese (Butterscotch). He raised money selling dog treats to family and friends for his Mitzvah project. We are so grateful!
TJs Hair Studio Helping Dogs in Need!
Our new friends at TJ’s Hair Studio in Alexandria, Virginia are dog people – as you can see from the photo. They reached out to us because they wanted to do a giving tree for Christmas to benefit AFH. They put up a Christmas tree and invited their clients to purchase an ornament, which were made from pictures of AFH dogs. The ornament then went on the tree. We want to thank everyone at TJ’s for their thoughtfulness. Their donation will go into our medical fund to help us care for dogs in need.
Jonas Brothers Raffle Ticket Winner
As you know, AFH raffled off two tickets to “The Jonas Brothers Happiness Begins Tour.” We have drawn a winner tonight and it is Donna Niner! Congratulations Donna and thank you to all who played and Jessica Miltenberger for donating the tickets. We raised some very badly needed funds to help offset some of the medical costs for dogs like Hopscotch and Mississippi Faith to just name a few. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Puppy Wedding
Last summer, AFH was invited to bring puppies to the wedding of Teresa and Nick. Photos were done by Megan Rei — AFH volunteer and adopter, and professional photographer. Girl Scout Silver Award!
Ella and Maddy, GS Troop 5433, recently did their Girl Scout Silver award project to make people aware of homeless animals and how rescue helps them. They chose AFH to be the beneficiary of their work as Ella’s family adopted from our rescue and they have also volunteered with our rescue. (We were especially grateful for their help on what turned out to be a very very busy and hectic event this Saturday. They were life savers!) As part of their work, they advocated for adopting and not buying and for supporting local rescues. They conducted educational presentations with younger scouts about how animals can become homeless, how rescues find them homes, and the importance of proper identification/microchips for pets. They had the scouts make fleece blankets for our doggies and raised money for AFH by doing bake sales and chores! They also used these bake sales as a way to educate the larger public about the importance of adoption and rescue work. We are very grateful for their generous donations and help!

Toy4Joy – Troop 5484
This June, Alice from Troop 5484 did her Silver Award project with her fellow scouts Jenny and Madison. Their project was called Toys4Joy where they taught kids how to make animal toys like a chew toy, treat toy, cat scratcher, and more. They came by our adoption event to drop off some toys and of course, play with puppies! Thanks ladies!
Paws In The Park
Last Spring we joined the National Park Service at Prince William Forest Park for their annual Paws in the Park. Pictured here are Cecilia with Joanna Kay, Lori with Vanessa Blaydes, Daisy with Lisa Alberti, and Freya with Debbie Ewald. We also had one of our adopters show up with Joey from the New Kids on the block litter. He was adopted from us 8 years ago!
Color The World
AFH has been the recipient of some very generous donations from Color the World. Since 2016 we have received donations totaling over $6,000 from their sale of high-quality lipsticks that are vegan, cruelty free, and natural. They have never asked for anything in return, but such an amazing company deserves our support. Please support this wonderful company.
Purchases of the “Huntress, Give A Dog A Forever Home” color goes directly to supporting our work.
Go Giant – Go Green!
Update: Hey folks I wanted you to know some good news I just learned today about the Giant Give Back reusable bags. Even if you purchase one of these bags at another Giant location or at a time other than during this month’s current AFH promotion, you can choose AFH as your designated charity for the donation to go to. The bag will come with a tag that explains how to do it. It’s real simple!
We are happy to announce that we have been chosen to participate in the Giant Community Bag Program during the entire month of August! If you purchase a reusable Giant grocery bag at the Giant located at 13043 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway in Fairfax Virginia for $2.50, we get a $1 donation!Besides avoiding all that plastic (and thus helping the environment), you will be helping AFH!Be sure to stop by in August and buy a bag (or 2!)!
