Finding forever homes for dogs in need
Giving Tuesday – The Gift of Forever
Please consider starting off this holiday season with the gift of love by making a Giving Tuesday donation to A Forever Home Rescue. No matter how large or small, your generosity will make the life of abandoned, abused, and orphaned dogs and pups healthy, happy, and secure.
Thanks to our generous supporters, so far this year, 1,035 dogs have found loving homes. Of these, nearly 20 were pregnant moms, around 60 were sick with parvo virus, and dozens had heartworm. Without your help, these sweet souls would have no chance of finding a forever home.
On this #GivingTuesday your donations ensure that we continue to give life, give hope and give second chances!
Transport Weekend
This weekend was a good one to save lives!
A Dog’s Journey to A Forever Home
City Leesburg Lifestyle Magazine published an article, by Melinda Gipson, on A Forever Home. We are honored to be highlighted. Read all about it here.
Jacie (Juno’s Janney)
To A Forever Home, I’ve attached some pics of my pup, originally called “Juno’s Janney.” I adopted her in January 2017 (DOB 10/25/16). We renamed her “Jacie” and she is a very much loved member of the family. This is her forever home. She could never be considered optional. She’s an amazingly sweet, friendly girl and such a wonderful addition to my family. She’s playful, happy, smart, and makes me laugh every day with her goofy antics. She’s very healthy, well-behaved, and so very spoiled in the best ways possible. Just thought I’d share some pics of my sweet little girl. And thank you for what you do. I’m so grateful that I got to adopt her.
Sincerely, Tara
Trevor the Champ!
Dear AFH, Just a quick update on Trevor who is now 6 1/2 years old. He earned several titles from the International Dog Parkour Assoc. during the Covid shut down including Novice parkour dog, Level 3 Quarantine specialist, Level 3 Four Foor On specialist, and Level 2 Under Specialist. He is currently working on his Intermediate parkour title. We will be resuming some WCRL rally at the end of September. On September 13th, he finished his AKC Fast CAT title the “FCAT2′ with a nice 7.87 seconds x 100 yds, 25.99 mph and 3rd place in the medium height class. Here is a pic of us both in our title photo and one of him running full tilt down the course. You can tell he loves this a lot! All the best and thank you letting us adopt him as a 7 month old in 2014, Diana
Fire Pit Raffle
We are raffling off this beautiful fire pit table. The Cosco Outdoor Living Serene Ridge fire pit comes fully assembled with a lid and is easy to use with its electronic ignition. We’re holding the drawing on Friday, October 23rd. For more information or to purchase your tickes, go to: https://to-afh.org/FirePitRaffle.
Transport Saturday
Today we saved 63 lives in one transport! These sweet doggies came to us from the Gulf Coast where there is little chance they would have found homes. Pups and dogs are often abandoned at shelters, rescues, or by the side of the road. We are grateful for the support of our foster parents and our donors who make this possible.
Adoptions During Coronavirus Distancing
Please know that AFH takes the Novel Coronavirus pandemic seriously. The safety of our volunteers and adopters is paramount while we continue to save lives. We are not holding in-person adoption events until further notice. Instead we are also doing virtual homechecks and virtual visits with adoptable dogs. Virtual visits and homechecks will be done via Zoom, Facetime, Skype, Google Hangouts, or other telepresence applications. All interviews with potential adopters will be done over the phone and contracts will be signed individually to allow social distancing. To adopt one of our pets, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org and we will e-mail you the process for adopting.
Note that our adoption fee is $425 ($500 for applications received after April 30, 2022) which must be paid in either cash or certified funds. Also, please review the adoption contract and spay/neuter agreement for pups adopted under 6 months of age.
As you know, AFH is always in need of donations and foster parents, but the need is even more acute now during the coronavirus pandemic. We are seeing an increase in people who are giving up their dogs due to the crisis and we are experiencing extremely high demand from owner surrenders and over-capacity shelters pleading for help. Our ability to help is limited by foster homes and finances.
If you want to be an AFH foster parent to help continue our work during this trying time, please email

and give what you can. Even small donations make a big difference!
As always, we appreciate whatever you can do to support our efforts to save lives. Please take care of yourself during this difficult time. We’ll get through this together.

Susie Had Her Pups!
Susie had her 8 pups starting at midnight. She finished delivering 8 beautiful pups! Suzanne is a long-time AFH volunteer. She and her family did a great job preparing to bring these babies into the world and Susie is doing a great job being a mommy.
Here is the link to the livestream they recorded of her birthing the babies: https://www.facebook.com/candice.holmes.714049/videos/193261952173312
Happy Birthday A Forever Home
A Forever Home Rescue officially started on September 11th, 2002. We began with just a handful of volunteers, a single foster home, a personal credit card, and a yard sale. Since then, we expanded to over 2,200 volunteers and have continued to be a foster-home only rescue. We are grateful to all of our volunteers, adopters, and supporters who have joined our team to save thousands of lives and made the world a better place because of Forever Love!
