Letters from Home

Previous AFH adopters write these stories. They tell the stories of joy, sorrow, surprise, and – most of all – love that their new family members have brought to their lives.

Quill (Poe)

Hello,

I hope you’re all doing well during these trying times.  I had been meaning to send an email update about “Poe”, I can’t believe we’ve had him over a month now! We decided to name him Quill after the wing markings on his back. He’s been such a sweet puppy, and someone must have taught him sit because he has been very good about that command. He’s starting a two week training course tomorrow, and we’re going to miss him so much, but I know he’ll love learning and playing with other dogs.  I just wanted to say thank you to the foster families and everyone at the rescue for taking care of this sweet pup and all the other good pups out there. We’re so glad he has a home with us now 😊

Thank you and take care! McCaulley family

Ozzieboy

Hello,

Thought I would reach out and give you a little update on Ozzie.  We adopted him via your organization back in February 2019.  Our Ozzieboy, on the right in the photo, is a wonderful addition to our family. He is such a happy little dog that loves his sister Lucy, on the left in the photo. He is also very attached to both Tibby and I and loves being held as much as possible. He is such a baby, which I love and truly a family dog. When we got him, he was such a little thing and he was only partially trained.  Within a month or two, his appetite picked up and was fully housebroken. We camp a lot and even though he still does not like riding that much, he loves it when we get to our campground site. (Lucy and Ozzie are great camping dogs).  We go to the groomers about every three months for a bath and good hair trimming and he does great with our groomer.  He does well with his routine visits to the vet, (healthy pup visits), and taking his heartworm and Flea/tick medicine.  My vet says he is in great shape.  All in all, I feel that Ozzie is happy and thriving wonderfully in his new forever home.  I can’t thank you enough for helping him find his way to us. He has made our family complete.

Murphy (Cedar)

We love our new addition to the family, Murphy (Cedar)! He’s amazing!

Odin (Stubby) Turned 4!

Today Odin (Stubby) turned 4 years old! Crazy how fast the time goes by.  It seems like just yesterday we met this (then) little 8 week old spunky puppy with his foster siblings. He won our hearts over with his short legs and big attitude.  Now he’s our big pup at 55 lbs.  He loves camping, cuddling and saying ‘hello’ to everyone at Home Depot (his favorite place on Earth) Thank you so much A Forever Home for our wonderful fur baby ❤️ we are so blessed and grateful ❤️ Happy Birthday Odin and Scarlet’s other pups!

Jake (Duke)

It’s been a pretty epic 4 hour play session between Elwood and Jake and they are both finally worn out!  Thanks again for everything.

Yoda (Hippa)

Our newest member of the family. Thank you!

Maya

Last April we adopted Maya. She has proven to be a great dog & is just one of the bunch here. We love her to bits!

Calvin – New Year’s Eve

Hi! I’m a previous adopter from 2017 (of Ralph of Ralph and Lauren – he’s now named Calvin).

Best, Shilpa

Buster and Kermit

Hello, AFH!  Our forever pups are doing great here in Florida. Buster (the blonde) is 10 and doing great, although his visits to the senior center as a hospice therapy dog didn’t agree with his sensitive skin so the vet suggested this nifty protective outfit. I can’t say he loves it. Kermit is 7 and still a hilarious curmudgeon. He is never without a toy in his mouth. He’s pictured here with his beloved bat from Halloween.  Thank you for giving us these wonderful pups who have brought us so much joy!!!
