Gabby is a beautiful, playful, lovable black lab puppy.  She loves to chase balls, follow the cats, play tug of war with the big dogs, and snuggle in a willing lap.  Unfortunately, it appears that she may be deaf.  Luckily this wasn’t discovered in the shelter where she was turned in, or she might have been euthanized.  She acts like a normal little puppy in every other way, except that she doesn’t seem to hear.  There is a test that can be done to determine deafness in dogs, but it’s not normally done until they’re older.  Dogs with hearing issues are usually successfully  trained using hand signals.  There’s more information on training dogs like Gabby at deafdogs.org.  If you’re a special person willing to take in a special dog, why don’t you give Gabby a chance?
