Baxter - Male Chihuahua/Terrier Mix - DOB 3/4/2014

When Baxter arrived at AFH he was a nervous little boy. He was afraid to let the grass touch his feet, did not know what a toy was and was startled by sudden noises. He was also very afraid of the leash. That was the old Baxter! As soon as he realized his life had drastically changed for the better, he became a happy, friendly and energetic young chihuahua terrier mix. His transformation reminded me of why we foster rescue dogs. He weighs 18 lbs. He loves to run in the yard, chew on his toys and snuggle in your lap. He loves being wherever you are. Baxter gets along well with our own dogs, pretty much ignores the cats we come across on our walks but is bound and determined to catch the toad that shows up on our patio every evening. However, the toad is way too quick for him. He does very well on the leash and with house training. He is good in a crate as long as the crate is in your area otherwise he does whine for a little bit till he settles down. If you are looking for a great companion who will give you tons of love and attention, snuggle right next to you and join you on your outdoor adventures, this is the guy for you!
