Brook is the last of "The BCs," left behind through no fault of her own. She had been adopted by a loving family but was returned when the mother found she was terribly allergic to dogs. They had two little girls and Brook probably still misses them. For example, after being hugged and kissed by girls in the foster's neighborhood, she runs around in crazy, euphoric circles. Luckily, the foster has two dogs at home who love Brook. When they aren't playing together, Brook will snuggle up to one of them (or with the foster). Brook is such an affectionate dog that she nibbles on the hair of the two adult dogs (nibbling on the hair is a grooming movement and signals affection), the dogs love the attention. Brook is a very athletic dog. One of her favorite games is chase. She will run in circles around a medium sized plastic pond with one or both of the other dogs chasing her, then she pauses and leaps across the pond, surprising the other dogs and taking off in another direction. She seems very pleased with herself. The foster thinks that if she had an owner who was interested in agility, Brook would do very well. She is also very smart and learns quickly. In the picture, she has noticed something outside and is watching it. She actually notices things before the adult dogs and gives a hound-like bark. She does not continue to bark and she is not a problem barker. Her ears are starting to come up when she alerts to something, they are so large they are a little like bat ears. Brook lives, not only with other dogs, but with the foster's cats and guinea pigs. Although she is interested in the other animals and wants to play with them, she has learned not to chase the cats and not to bark at the piggies. She does not have a high prey-drive. The foster thinks that if she was adopted by a family with a dog-friendly cat, they would become friends. She would be very lonely if she were left alone for an 8-hour workday. Brook is a sweet, playful dog who is confident and affectionate. She would be a great pet for a family with children or adults with other pets or a strong interest in agility or other dog activities.
