Australian Shepherd Mix
Hi! My name is Lucy, and I'm a young Australian Shepherd mix. I know I may not still look like a puppy, but I am still very much a puppy at heart! I love everybody, and bond very easily - when my last family had to give me up because my new sister developed an allergy to me, I was sad when my mommy left me, but settled in right away with my new foster family. I just love to love and be loved! I also love to play, and to snuggle, and I ESPECIALLY love to have my belly rubbed! If you don't believe me, come see me at AFH's next adoption day - I will wag my whole body in excitement to see you, and then roll over on my back, tail still wagging, and ask you to please, pretty please, rub my belly!! My foster family tells me that the best thing about me not being a little puppy anymore is that I'm through all that annoying puppy stuff, like house-breaking, crate-training, and waking up in the middle of the night!
Really, I'm the best of a lot of worlds if you're looking for a new member of your family! My foster family doesn't have kids, and I love spending time with them, but I also love it when the neighbor children come by to say hi to me when I'm on a walk, or playing in my backyard. My first family had kids, and we loved to play together all the time. My foster family thinks that part of why I'm so good with kids is that I'm the perfect size: I'm small enough that when we play I won't knock them over or hurt them if I step on them, but large enough that they probably won't hurt me either! I am very gentle, but also very playful, and always eager to run around the back yard, or play with a ball. When I'm done playing, I like nothing more than to curl up with my family and enjoy a nice quiet evening. And when it's time for bed, all you have to say is "night night!" and I go right into my crate! Of course, I'd also be more than happy to snuggle up with you for the night if you wanted me to 🙂 I can't wait to find my new forever home, and make you the best best friend you'll ever have!
