Dachshund Mix
Poppy is the perfect name for this delicate, lovely, resilient little dog. She was whisked away just one day ago from a horrid WV puppy mill and arrived scared, nervous, and jittery at he foster home today. It was clear from the beginning that the stinky little dachshund we picked up would blossom with some TLC. We bathed her, gave her a nice fluffy bed, and let her sleep off her stress. Once she woke, Poppy ate and drank and began tentatively but curiously exploring her foster home. Her fosters will be working to get her used to living with humans--she is a little nervous around people, and seems much more relaxed being a part of her fosters' canine pack. She's showing some interest in chewing on a nylabone--a good sign of future fun--but will need some help learning to play and walk on a leash. It is too soon to know if she is crate-trained, but we've had no accidents so far today! Please look at this darling little gal and consider bringing her into your life. She's had a rough start, but she's a dear little thing who will give you a lifetime of cuddles and sweet fun. She deserves a good life now. UPDATE: It is Poppy's Day 2 at her new foster home and she's doing really well. Se's been playing with her fosters' dogs. She is also playing with some toys and really beginning to relax into her new life. This is really an awesome little gal!
