Shih Tzu Mix
Oswald, or "Ozzie" for short, came to us from a backyard breeder. He had spent most of his life in a crate before we got him and he was scared, shy and quiet at first. Still, we immediately knew he was a gentle soul as he let us yank out hundreds of ticks and treat his wounds and infected eyes with neither a protest nor whimper. Since then he has become much more outgoing, friendly, and his little puff of a tail is always wagging. He loves to be with people and always appreciates a good back rub or a scratch under the ear. He's very loving, easy to handle, and extremely sweet and patient. Ozzie is an older dog, so he is fairly quiet and calm at home, and loves to curl up by his foster's feet when she is studying. On walks, though, he's quite energetic, gets along with all the neighborhood dogs, and thoroughly enjoys exploring the outdoors, especially if the day is sunny. He is responding with amazing quickness to housetraining, and is already having almost no accidents in our presence. He is crate trained, and enters his crate with hardly any fuss, though he looks at us with big, sad, and puzzled eyes when we put him in. He clearly loves company and would do best in a home where someone is around for a good part of the day to be with him. He is an ideal pet - doesn't need too much attention, hardly barks, and is not at all destructive. He'd be great with small kids as well. In short, Ozzie is a loving, cuddly, and impossible-to-resist little Shih-Tzu, and any potential dog owner would be extremely lucky to have him!
