Pogo

Female (Altered) — Date of Birth: 09/23/2007 (16 years old (Senior))
Boston Terrier Mix
Pogo is a pure-bred Boston Terrier that was given up by her family because they are having to deal with their older dog's cancer. Pogo was diagnosed at 8 weeks of age with a Grade 4 heart murmur. AFH has taken Pogo to a cardiologist who confirmed her grade 4 heart murmur as said that she has a moderate pulmonic valve stenosis. Which means the valve in her heart that pumps blood into her lungs doesn't open wide so her heart has to pump harder to push the blood through. The vet told us she does not need to have surgery to treat the condition and that she may live a completely normal life with this problem He put her on a beta blocker which is a pill twice a day for the rest of her life. That prescription is about 4 dollars a month. She will need to have annual to monitoring of her heart for any changes to her condition. It would best for her to be in an adult home without young children. She should be kept calmer and leash walks are fine. She is very sweet and very quiet. She does try and run around and she kind of bounces like a Pogo stick. She is not housebroken or crate trained, but we are working on her housebreaking.
