Beagle / Cocker Spaniel Mix

Hi there my name is Katie and I am an 8 month old spaniel/ beagle mix. I came to A Forever Home with my sister Nikita from a breeder who no longer wanted us and dumped us at a shelter in West Virginia. I am kind of on the small to a medium size standing about 16" high and weigh about 22 lbs. I am on the shy side, but do warm up pretty quick if you give me a chance. I am a very sweet and loving dog. My all time favorite thing to do is lay on your lap and just cuddle. I still have some puppy energy that comes out every so often, so a good walk and a toss of the toy does a body good. I am really good with other dogs and even leave my foster kitty alone. I am crate trained and run into the crate when it is time for bed. I know how to hold it for 8 hours and if I’m not housetrained already I am pretty close. Once you put me on a good schedule and take me on regular walks you will not have too much of a problem. I am going to need some socialization work. Taking me to the dog park and introducing me slowly to people along the way will help me open up more. Another great thing to help me is taking me to obedience classes. The more I learn, the more I will gain in confidence which will help me out in the long run. I will do well in obedience if someone was to just take their time and work with me. The best home for me would be more of a quieter home. I think I will do okay with older, quieter children as long as they would understand I may not always want to play. I am looking for a family to be able to help me gain confidence, to be able to bring me out and meet people a little at a time. Another dog will be a bonus, but not a requirement. I find if another dog was to accept a situation in which I may shy away from at first, I will slowly go and investigate. Not to mention other dogs are also a lot of fun to play with. Once you give me a chance I am sure to show you that I am a very sweet and loving dog who will want to give you hugs and kisses. I do enjoy my foster home, but I really am looking for a good and loving family who can help me become a much better and socialized dog.
