Cocker Spaniel Mix
Hello my name is Lady, but I go by the name Zurie. I am a beautiful, pure-bred 2 year old Cocker Spaniel with black wavy fur. To my family I am a happy go lucky girl. always carrying the biggest smile on my face. I am bit of an energetic girl always going from lap to lap for a pet, chasing my toys, though I don't always bring them back because I like watching you get up to play with me. I also really LOVE to go on walks. When I'm done playing I am content to lay at my masters feet or up on the couch shoving my head under your hand. I am house trained, crate trained, and I know the words "sit" and "down". I am great with calm dogs, and am even really pretty good with cats. I sometimes chase my foster kitties when they run, but for the most part I am really good with them. I am a bit on the dominant side and will need a master to be a master to me. My prior family taught me a few things, though there are some areas I am sadly lacking. So I am going to need someone to teach me that I'm not allowed to mouth hands, I'm not allowed to get into the trash can and over all get into mischief. I need to learn that I cannot jump up on people, and need to learn that I cannot snap food out of people's hands. Basically just teach me that my puppyish antics are not allowed. One area that I am going to need the most help in however is meeting people. I was never socialized much, so strangers always scare me and because of this I sometimes growl and get nippy at people. My prior family never really corrected me when I did this so it only encouraged me to continue. So I am going to need a family to teach me that strangers are not scary and that I am not aloud to growl etc. I really can be friendly to strangers and can learn that people are okay. I just need to know that my owner is in control and will not have anyone hurt me and I really need to get out there and be socialized. Because of these bad habits of mine my foster mom thinks that I should only be placed in a home with older children or in adult only households. I am going to need a family who can further my training and to socialize me. I have a lot of potential to be the best dog, but just need a bit of work to get there. Please give me a chance I really want to show you how good I can be.
