Pendar had a tough start in life. He was born in a country where people often kill dogs, and he watched as someone killed his mother and then cut him. The good people who rescued him had to keep him indoors to keep him safe. Imagine a puppy not being able to go outside and play! When Pendar was 7 months old (last autumn) a rescuer flew him to the U.S. and A Forever Home took him into care. Unfortunately, he soon broke a toe and wore a cast for two months! Now the cast is off and Pendar is able to walk and regain strength in that leg and foot. Although Pendar looks big, he is trim and lanky and weighs only 50 pounds. He is fully house trained and is very comfortable in a crate. When one of us walks him, he does great. Watching Pendar play all by himself with a ball, toy, or rag to toss into the air and chase is lots of fun. He loves playing with other dogs. Pendar enjoys attention and affection. He comes readily when called, sits on command, and is generally calm and cooperative. You can see Pendar in action in these videos. The first one is his foster mom’s favorite.
