Sheep Dog Mix
Luca, Tatian, Cuza and Shade are pure-bred Romanian Sheepdogs that came to our rescue after their owner, John Landry our dog trainer, died suddenly. Luca is the pack leader and dad, Tatiana is the mom. Cuza and Shade are brothers. Romanian Sheepdogs are the sixth rarest breed of dog in the world. They were bred to guard the flocks from Lynx, Bear and Wolves. They are balanced, alert and vigilant dogs that become attached to their family. Romanian Sheepdogs have long, fluffy hair that needs to be brushed on a regular basis. These dogs are calm but playful and do best with a large yard and brisk walks. They have been well trained and were used as mentors for dogs that came to John for help. They were well cared for and well loved by John and his wife. All four of these dogs are housebroken and ride well in a car. They are between 120-150lbs. John kept them well socialized by taking them on regular outings, including Old Town Alexandria. Tatiana, Cuza and Shade do well with all other dogs and have lived with all sizes. Luca does best with female dogs. They have not been around small children so we feel it best not to place them in homes with small children due to their size. They are not dogs that would do well in an apartment or condo as they need good indoor space. They are beautiful dogs and are true gentle giants.
