I have fostered Ubu since October. He has come a long way from the dog I first met. In fact, he is lucky to be alive. When he was rescued at about 12 months, it was very obvious that he had never been inside or had any positive human contact. There were many dogs (over a hundred) that were found dead. When I brought him home from the vet at about 13 months, I had to drag him inside. He was a very scared dog who required a lot of patience and close watching. Now, 7 months later, he is an absolutely wonderful companion. He is loving, cuddly, playful, protective, becoming more and more trusting everyday. The scared dog I brought home is non-existent. He loves playing with other dogs and playing fetch with his stuffed animals. He has done very well with children at the adoption events. He is a lemon beagle who has the body structure and personality of a basset hound. He is very laid back now. He walks very well on a leash. He is house trained and neutered. Ubu has proven to me that no matter how bad a dog's life starts out, they can still learn to be a dog and love unconditionally.
