Cassie
Female (Altered) — Date of Birth: 10/23/2004 (21 years old (Senior))
Terrier / Beagle Mix
Though listed as a Terrier-Beagle mix, no one can see the beagle in Cassie. What everyone DOES see once they have spent any time with her, is how much of a sweetheart she is! Contrary to previously published information, Cassie gets along with all animals and people. She absolutely LOVES to play, walk, run in the grass, and ride in the car. She DOES have a food aggression, but only when you try and take food away from her. She WILL sneak a treat from a low-level, unguarded plate, and she will jump to get a treat offered her, but won't bite. We are working on that issue. We have two dogs, larger and older than Cassie, both of whom adore her and love to play with her. Except when one of them gets a bit too "fresh" with her, she gets along fantastically with them. She is shy around groups, but settles in quickly, especially with kids. She likes to rough-house play, quickly rolling onto her back and surrendering to a tummy rub or scratch. In order to have Cassie love you, you MUST be willing to take her on walks-which she is CRAZY about. She holds her pee and poop all day, some times for as long as 10-12 hours, but be prepared to get licked to death when you return home, and then to take her for that long awaited walk. She will jump into your lap or onto your sofa if you say yes, but she won't until you give her permission. She WILL have some separation anxiety when you first adopt her, and it will include a couple of episodes of peeing and maybe even a poop. I experienced two pees and one poop over the first few days, but nothing since, and I have had her now for almost one month. She will also have an accident if you bring her to another house and leave her unattended, but only because she may think she is being left behind. What you REALLY need to know is this-Cassie is a real sweetheart and will be a great addition to any family, whether you have kids, grown children, dogs, cats, or other pets. She just requires love and attention, but then, who doesn't. Give her a chance and you will have a pet for a lifetime!
