The ULTIMATE LAPDOG! Ellie is a sweet, older Pekingese, who spent most of her life as a breeder in a puppy mill. Her little body was very worn out when we got her, but she is now much healthier and enjoying life! Although she does not see or hear very well, she is a very low maintenance dog. She loves to be held and will melt down onto the floor when you touch her. She lets you pick her up with total abandon, like a little rag doll. As long as you are touching her, she is so happy. She is housebroken, very calm and never barks. She sleeps all through the night and when we are out during the day, but when we get home, she does a happy dance and follows me around the house, bumping on my legs until I pick her up and scratch her belly. If I can't pick her up, she will lay beside me and snore and snort while she sleeps. She likes to walk around outside and loves to lay in the sun, so if you have a fenced* backyard where she can spend some time everyday, she does not need a leash walk. However, as she her health continues to improve, she is getting a little more active and enjoys walking -slowly- on the leash and is very well behaved. She would be the ideal dog for a gentle child to play with or an older person who just want to curl up with an adorable snoring Peke on the lap. She is such a doll and just about the calmest, sweetest dog I have ever met. * Because she does not see or hear very well, she needs to be outside either in a fenced yard or supervised, otherwise she could get easily lost and might not hear you calling for her.
