Chad joined our family, with his buddy Dewey, after being rescued from the puppy mill in WV. From the second we saw him, his tail was wagging and his ears were perked with enthusiasm. And that enthusiasm has continued with every new aspect of daily life that he learns about: Prancing through the grass and exploring the woods around our house (he has been cooped up in a wire crate all of his life); Learning to fetch and squeak his first toy - a safari bone - and learning to share toys with Dewey, our other foster dachshund Dewey; Meeting new people, including our 1 year old son and the 1 and 3 year old little girls next door (he behaves very well with children); Getting scratches behind the ears and tummy rubs from all his new friends; Meeting new dogs, including our 4 year old dachshund, Petey, and the other dogs we meet on walks. Speaking of walks, learning to be on a leash is one thing he wasn't too crazy about, but he is adjusting quickly. We take long walks around our neighborhood and he gets better every day. He is crate trained but will still need to be housetrained. With a bit of training and lots of love, I'm sure Chad will adjust quickly to being in a home environment. His buddy Dewey has already found a loving permanent home, we hope you will consider welcoming Chad into your home!
