Hound Mix
Hi, My name is Ginny. I am a 7 year old, 40 pound hound mix with quite an interesting background. I was found wandering the streets - cold, hungry, alone, and sick. I somehow made my way from Route 15 in Virginia to an animal shelter in New York where someone realized just how sweet I am and began looking for a rescue group that would help find me a home of my own. AFH offered to rescue me and they began treating me for Lyme disease and Heartworm. I was in pretty bad shape for a while but I have recovered from both conditions. During my treatments, it was discovered that I have diabetes. I require shots twice a day but they don't bother me at all. I have had at least several litters of puppies but I am now spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventive. I am a very quiet and well behaved girl. I love other dogs and all people - including children. I'm not sure about cats because I've never seen one, but I'm sure I would be fine with them as well. I am housetrained and I don't chew anything that I am not supposed to chew. I also walk well on a leash. I've been told that I am very smart too! I learned to use the doggy door at my foster home almost immediately. I love affection and would appreciate the chance to meet you and show you how sweet I am. I have roamed the streets long enough and would like nothing more than a forever home with you. Will you consider meeting me?
