Savannah is a beautiful girl who came to AFH from Savannah, GA after her owners decided they no longer cared. While in GA, she was severely neglected and had 7 puppies with no medical/human attention. When she arrived at AFH, she was very scared, but the volunteers at AFH taught her to trust people and dogs and also how to love. Savannah became a very affectionate dog with a goofy personality and was on her way to a great life. In July, she was adopted to what we believed was her ‘forever home’, but 2 weeks later, AFH volunteers learned that Savannah had gotten lost in the woods of Manassas without her ID tags. After volunteers spent countless days searching for her, we received a phone call from a nearby animal hospital. Savannah had been hit by a car. After learning of the accident, Savannah’s owners decided that they could not afford to help her and released her back into AFH’s care. Once AFH had her examined, we learned she had a broken front leg, pelvis, and tail (among all the scratches, sores, and malnourishment problems). Thanks to Dr. Langenbach and her staff at Hope Veterinary Surgical Center in Vienna, her surgeries went extremely well. Although her medical care was very expensive, totaling over $7,000, AFH was generous enough to give her the treatment she needed. She is now on the road to recovery and has been an inspiration to so many people and has brought happiness to everyone who meets her. Her spirits remain high, and she is now getting all the love and attention she deserves as we are continuing to ensure that she remains safe, healthy, and happy. Of course, AFH would not be able to help dogs like Savannah without help from generous donations to our Brownie Fund. If you would like to help Savannah and others like her, please send a check to AFH-Brownie Fund, PO Box 222801, Chantill, VA 20153.
