Pierre is a great dog. He is house trained, loves to play with other dogs, is great with people, and is very loving. He would make a great addition to any family. This poor fellow was recently rescued for the second time in his life. Originally, he was given up by a backyard breeder he was adopted out in 2005. Some time last year, an individual in Florida found Pierre running free, but let him go before calling our rescue. Through his AFH tag, we found that his adoptive family moved away to Florida without forwarding their address and could not be located. Pierre was lost for over a year and a half until he was picked up by the shelter in Miami. He was badly matted, had infected paws, and had his tail badly mangled. Thankfully, AFH volunteers were able to pick him up, have him treated by a vet, and drive him back to Virginia. As you can see from his most recent photo, he has recovered nicely, despite having his tail amputated.
