Hello everyone, I'm Amelia.  The most important thing you should know about me, is that I turn 3 at the end of August and really want to be in my forever home by then.  Unfortunately, I spent most of the first year of my life in a crate without any playtime or snuggle time before AFH took me in.  I came to AFH from NC with my mate and had 3 adorable puppies who have all gone to loving homes.  I am an absolute sweetheart who loves to snuggle and cuddle and play, but unfortunately my old foster wasn't able to take me to too many adoption events which is why I am still here today.  Luckily, AFH found me a new foster and since then life has been pretty good for me.  The first thing we did was go on a two week vacation to Rhode Island where I got to go on walks, play on the beach with my foster sister, attend a 4th of July party, and snuggle my way into everyone's laps and hearts.  Since I spent most of my life in a crate there were a few things that I wasn't so good at when I came to my new foster home, like walking on hard-wood floors and being comfortable around lots of other people or dogs.  While I still look a little funny walking on hard-wood floors, my new foster family has taught me how much I am loved and I have gotten much better around people and other dogs.  I still get a little skiddish when I hear a new noise or something startles me, but I am not aggressive about it and always calm down as soon as someone tells me it will be okay.  I am housebroken and sleep in my crate (my foster mom leaves the door open so I can come in and out as I please, but when she goes to bed I know to go in all on my own and don't come out till she gets up in the morning).  I am pretty quiet, and will only bark a little when I hear or see something new.  I am learning how to sit now, but sometimes I have a tough time because I just get too excited.  Since I still get a little nervous sometimes, I would probably do best in a house that is usually quiet, but I have been around, and can be around, kids and other dogs and don't growl or bite at them. If every once and a while things do get to be too much for me, I just go lay in my crate and stay out of the chaos.  I will be at the Sunday adoption events starting on July 13th, so I hope you come and meet me.
