Why We Give

With your help, AFH was able to rescue dogs like: Rango who lost his leg after being caught in a coyote trap…The Culvert pups who were abandoned in a culvert on an oil well site…Ginny who lost her leg after it was caught in fishing line…Gwen whose owner died and she had to give birth to her babies in freezing weather…Hercules and Suzie who were attacked by other dogs and had severe wounds….And Petunia who needed surgery for severe cherry eye. Thanks for being part of our Team!

Kameron

Kameron is a sweet boy who was found on the side of a road in rural Mississippi, unable to walk. He was rescued and nursed back to health. Although he still has some clumsiness in his front legs due to permanent nerve damage, it doesn’t bother him at all! He does amazingly well and loves running with all the dogs in his foster home. He can now do stairs in his foster home, is housetrained and knows to sit. Kameron just can’t wait to find his forever home!

Petunia

Petunia is a pure-bred boxer landed at a shelter in North Carolina as a stray. Both of her eyes had a condition called cherry eye which required surgery to correct. The surgery was a complete success and she could not be happier. She is an awesome girl who is great with people and kid friendly. She is gentle, very sweet and playful. She is an active girl and loves playing in the backyard. If you like boxers, you will love her!

Today is the day! Our goal is to raise $40,000 this Tuesday and so far we have raised $5,000! We are so grateful for the support, but know we can do better. Please help us to continue our life saving work. Help us find homes for abandoned pups, pregnant mommies, orphaned doggies, lost pets, and all of those helpless lives that end up in shelters where they have no chance. Ready for a new friend? Join us Saturday Dec. 2nd for our regular adoption event. We will have most of our available dogs and pups in attendance. We are sure the right dog will be waiting there for you!

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support. In the spirit of the season, there will be no adoption event Saturday November 25th to give our dedicated volunteers a well-deserved break to spend Thanksgiving with their families. Contracts will still be signed as scheduled. We hope you have a wonderful holiday and look forward to seeing you at our next event December 2nd.  Wishing you a joyous Thanksgiving week!

Forever Tails – November 2023

It is hard to believe the holiday season is here, with Thanksgiving is just around the corner! In this newsletter we have lots of goodies. We highlight Cookie and the Culvert Pups hoping to find their forever families. Thank You Lazy Dog!

Thank you everyone who came out to support us at the Lazy Dog Fundriaser. We got lots of great adoptions and met lots of wonderful people. Of course the food was great and the pups were all tuckered out at the end. Thanks to your support, we also raised $876.39! Thank you Greg Bietz and all of the wonderful Lazy Dog Chantilly staff!

Casey (Kalie) – Rescue Dog!

Dear Forever Home, My name was Kali as a young puppy 2012 when my Mom and Dad, Sheryl and Larry, found me through A Forever Home after a raid on a puppy mill down south. Now I am 18 pounds of Casey and since then I have been busy learning about 20 tricks, including falling “dead” when you shoot me with your fingers (it’s ok, I’m not really hurt!). I just had a little surgery on my knee, but am doing great and have returned to toy throwing, going walkies and enjoying my new memory foam beds all over the house (I’m not spoiled, really I’m not!) I’m just as much fun and joy as I was as a pup. My Mom makes fun images of me, thought you might these! Love to all you doggie parents and saviors!
