June 7 @ 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM we will be attending the Pet Palooza, Reston Town Center Town Center Dr. Parking is free. We will be attending with our dogs and pups looking for love and forever homes. Expected to appear: Jennifer’s Pups, The Flower Pups, Cute Felix, Cocker Pups, Playful Pup Mikey, Doyline 10 Ellie, Schlab Pups, Stacy’s Pups, Kris, Lori’s Fatty. (This list will be updated throughout the week.)
On Sun, June 8 @ 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM is Paws in the Park at Frying Pan Park 2709 West Ox Rd, Herndon. Bring your pups, your people, and your picnic blanket for this free, pet-friendly event. There is a dog park area and lots of fun things to do. (If the weather is bad, this event will move indoors so plan to come rain or shine!) This event is open to everyone, whether you’re looking to adopt, shop, learn, or just enjoy some tail-wagging joy in the sunshine. AFH will be there with: Flower Pups, Jennifer’s Pups, Playful Pup Mikey, The Cuddly 6, and Hound Ginger, Schlab Pups, Stacy’s Pups, Kris, Lori’s Fatty, Tori’s Pups and Ossom Aussies. Our Puppies Need Your Help
Our babies need your help. Sadly some of them have come down with parvo which is a dangerous virus that can be very costly to treat, up to $5000 for a a single pup. If you can help with even just $5, we would really appreciate the donation. Chantilly’s First Pet Mayor Collared
Charlie the Dog Takes Office: Chantilly’s First Pet Mayor Officially Collared – The votes have been counted, the tails have been wagged,
and history has been made. AFH proudly hosted the firstever Pet Mayor of Chantilly Collaring Ceremony on February 15, 2025, at Lazy Dog Restaurant in Chantilly, VA. The star of the event? Pet Mayor Charlie, a rescue dog with big dreams, a wagging tail, and an agenda focused on treat distribution, belly rub quotas, and ensuring all pets find their forever homes.
The ceremony, officiated by Virginia State Senator Kannan Srinivasan, marked the official swearing-in of Mayor Charlie, Chief of Paw-lice Maya, Fur Chief Gus, and the seven members of the Pet Council, including Glamorous Barcode, a trailblazing Leopard Gecko representing the
reptilian community.
“Today, we celebrate leadership that truly understands loyalty, unconditional love, and the importance of snack breaks,” said Senator Srinivasan during the ceremony. “These pets symbolize the joy and companionship that rescue animals bring into our lives—and they also
